Surah Al-Fatiha is the first chapter of the Holy Quran. It is appropriately named as such because Fatiha means ‘the opening’. Although the chapter is short, containing just seven verses, it holds tremendous importance and meaning for Muslims. Surah Al-Fatiha is particularly significant for the Islamic faith and prayer.

مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Master of the Day of Judgment.
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Guide us on the Straight Path,
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
The path of those who have received Your grace, not the path of those who have brought wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.
